Our Story

OUR STORY

Nurturing a family farm operation to flourish over four generations is a unique challenge. That’s the opportunity presented to Ryan and Rachel Kemp, who operate Kemp Honey just outside of High Prairie, Alberta. Ryan’s grandfather first began the business by keeping bees in southern Ontario. Ryan's father, Roger moved to their current location in High Prairie in the mid-1970s. Ryan's journey began as a child working alongside his father and grandfather acquiring essential skills to continue the family business.
Ryan has passed along these skills to his two son's, Colten and Conner who now manage their own hives. As our beekeeping operation grows, we have multi-generations that collaborate to contribute their knowledge and personal skills to enrich and maintain our farm.

WE LOVE OUR BEES

It is essential that are bees are nurtured and cared for to maintain optimal hive health. We believe in placing our hives on local fields where they will be able to access local crops and the natural environment.

Bees not only produce a wide array of products but also pollinate crops which is essential to our wellbeing.

We are passionate about sharing our knowledge on honeybees. A visit to our farm store not only provides you an opportunity to purchase our honey and products but ask questions to learn more about beekeeping.

OUR HONEY IS FRESH FROM THE FARM

At Kemp Honey we are passionate about our honey! We produce unpasteurized honey to protect nutritional value. Our raw honey is brimming with essential vitamins and nutrients. The honey that our bees produce is the most original sweet liquid from the concentrated nectar of local flowers. Our honey is collected straight from our honey extractor, it is completely unpasteurized, and unprocessed. Our honey can be purchased directly on-site from our farm or ordered. Customers can contact us and request honey or body care products to be mailed to them. Producing quality honey and products from the farm is a way of life at Kemp Honey.

OUR BODYCARE PRODUCTS ARE NATURAL

In 2001, a line of natural body care products was developed, containing bee by-products and natural ingredients rich in minerals and vitamins. At the time, Rachel developed the products to provide quality and wholesome body products for her boys when they were young along with the rest of the family to use.
Kemp Honey butters & balms are formulated to protect skin against the abuse of natural elements. Products are hand crafted to alleviate chapping, cracking, dryness and roughness due to environmental conditions. Our bath and body care products include body butter, lip and body balms. All body care products contain no additives, fillers, or preservatives. Our body care products have been developed without artificial
colouring and scents.
